Katelyn Starts 10th Grade
Katelyn started 10th grade at Mills High School on Tuesday the 14th. So far she likes her classes and teachers, although the 7am band thing continues to be difficult. It’s easier now, though, since her friend Drew, who’s a year behind her in school and lives up the street, is now at Mills; we’re sharing carpooling with Drew’s mom, Lynn. Yay!
Kathie – Kids – Camping
Kathie and Joanie took all 3 girls down to Thousand Trails in Gilroy for a fun few days of camping August 4-7. I gather swimming, bike riding, and games were most of the fun.
Art Class for Katelyn
Katelyn and I went to Michael’s last week to buy Copic Markers, fancy artists’ markers. While there we met Barbara Golden, an artist who lives in Foster City and offers classes on how to use the markers. Katelyn attended one of her classes on Tuesday 7/31.
Katelyn visits Grandma
Katelyn had a fun trip to Grandma’s last Sunday through Wednesday. She took CalTrain by herself down to San Jose and back, whcih was a first. They saw a movie, did a little shopping, and hung out.
The kids are back
The kids arrived home from their Chicago+ trip on Saturday the 14th around dinner time.
Some pictures from the trip
You can see some pictures from the trip the kids are on with Glynis and Susan here.
Val’s home, Kids are gone
Dropped the kids off with Glynis & Susan at Amtrak, went shopping, then picked Val up at the airport.
The itinerary on the train has changed since they won’t stop in Grand Junction due to the fires in Colorado. Glynis is disappointed at not being able to go to Pike’s Peak.

Pride!
Home from Pride. Riding with Kathie and the girls was, as usual, awesome, as was hanging out at the booths with them and Glynis and Susan. The Exiles and LLW booths where I worked were fun. The weather was perfect! The motorcycle ride to and from was a little chilly in my skirt and lace stockings, and since I hadn’t had the bike on the freeway in a while I was a little nervous, but all went well. The most surreal part was walking the 2 blocks to my bike through wall-to-wall people hanging out at the Rap stage. It seemed to go on forever! Luckily everyone was friendly. I love Pride!

Lasagne
We went to the store and got ingredients, including a stop at Red Brick Pizza to get some vegan cheese, and made two big trays of vegan tofu veggie lasagne. Homemade sauce, spinach, zucchini, crook neck squash, broccoli, and brussel sprouts. Yum! We used the no-boil lasagne noodles. They were fine except the top layer because we didn’t have enough sauce to get it moist enough so it didn’t cook much. But with the melted vegan cheese and the little bit of cooking it made a nice crunchy side. Even after eating a bunch for dinner there are about 10 additional single servings stored in the freezer.
