Brunch with Stacy
I had a delightful brunch with Stacy on 4/28.
Jennifer & Selena Visit
Jennifer & Selena visited us on 4/27. We love their visits, where we get to catch up on each others’ lives and play some fun games. It’s wonderful having friends like them!
Anniversary Blessing for George & Linda, More Torah
On Saturday 4/17, Val and Haley and I attended Shabbat services at B’nai Emunah, where there was a special blessing for George and Lida’s 25th Anniversary. It turned out that the first Torah reading was most of what I’d read the night before, so Val asked Rabbi Mark if I could read, and he agreed. So I got to read again! Val and Haley and I also had Aliyas, so we had a great time participating in the service.
Sholom Women’s Shabbat Service
On 4/26 I read Torah at the Sholom Women’s Shabbat Service, with Val and Haley there to support me. It was a beautiful service, incorporating content from the celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). With everything crazy going on in our lives I hadn’t had time to practice my reading, so every night during the week leading up to the service, Val spent a huge amount of time coaching me. Thanks, Val!
Another Panel
On 4/24 I went back to that Human Sexuality class at Notre Dame de Namur University, this time to talk about alternative adult sexuality practices. I had a great time with the panel I’d put together, including my friends Liza and Tyler.
A Weekend Away
Val and I spent a weekend at the IMsL conference in San Francisco 4/18-4/22. It was tough, with Katelyn being in the hospital, but we really needed the time away to take care of our own mental health and to reconnect with each other. We had an awesome weekend.
Tea Party
On 4/13, our friends Barb and Barbara celebrated their 10th anniversary with a festive High Tea Party. Val and Katelyn and I dressed up and drove to Mill Valley for the occasion. It was a fun celebration of love!
Speakers Bureau at Monte Vista HS
I sat on panels in two separate classes on 4/10 at Monte Vista HS in Cupertino, for the PFLAG Speaker’s Bureau. At this school every Freshman takes Biology, and we speak in every Biology class, so every single Freshman student is exposed to this. How great!
Passover – Day 1
I spent the first night of Passover, on 3/25, with Mom and 3 of her close friends. It was a delightful evening, an intimate sharing of Passover with non-Jewish people.
Speaking for PFLAG
I’m on the Speaker’s Bureau for the San Jose chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays). On 3/20 I spoke on a panel in a Human Sexuality class at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. Pretty progressive for a Catholic university.
