Off to Palm Springs
Leaving later on today for the Desire weekend in Palm Springs. Should be great fun, although well over 100 degrees. Yikes!
Haley places in the chess tournament
Haley’s core class had an ongoing chess tournament throughout most of the year. It finished yesterday, and Haley took third place. Congratulations!
Out on the town
On Saturday, Val and I first conducted the Exiles orientation with Rio, and then headed over to the Powerhouse to wish Leland a happy birthday. I must be getting old… it felt weird to be heading into a bar at 10pm, and then hanging out with loud music and partying folks for a while. But it was a lot of fun, especially dancing with Lance.
Katelyn pet-sitting
Katelyn stayed by herself over at Glynis and Susan’s on Saturday night to take care of the animals. It was her first solo overnight, and was generally uneventful. But it pointed out that she can get up early if she has to… the animals woke her early in the morning to get fed.
More visitors! Jann and Trev (and Toby)
More visitors! Jann and Trev (and Toby)
Jann and Trev brought their usual bag of bagels to our brunch table on Saturday, June 2. This time they brought their adorable dog Toby, who charmed the girls and kept us amused as he ran around our yard. Trev spent some time under Haley’s sink, helping me try (unsuccessfully) to retrieve Haley’s lost earring. In the end, neither of us could get the sink back together so I’m hoping to get Cutberto over to help with that soon. I also spent some time dealing with Jim the electrician, who was there trying to repair our yard lights. The deck lights worked after he replaced a transformer, but the other lights need to wait until I can get Guadalupe’s guys to dig a trench to get to the buried wires. Ah, the joys of hom eownership!
Finally the afternoon settled down enough for most of us to play a fun game of Ticket to Ride, Europe. Katelyn was napping… the stress of finals and staying up late to finish assignments finally caught up with her.
Katelyn is now a Sophomore
After finishing classes on Thursday, Katelyn went back on Friday to play with the band at graduation. She got sunburned, competed heavily in poker game (with face-flicking as the coin-don’t ask), and got home exhausted but having had a lot of fun. She’s now officially a Sophomore!
Visit from Michelle and the girls
Michelle, Ariella, and Miriam joined us for a burrito and taco bar and just hanging out on Friday, June 2. It was great to have yummy food and just hang out, and Haley got a Feldenkreis lesson while the rest of us watched “How It’s Made”.
(Val couldn’t be there because she was attending the memorial for our friend Ken, who passed away last month.)
Freda and Thai
Freda joined us for dinner on Thursday, June 1. After an abortive attempt to order sushi (wonder if Sushi Raw in San Bruno is closed?) we got Thai food from Thai Stick in Millbrae. Really enjoyed the food and the visit!
