Haley Field Trip: A Christmas Carol
Haley got to go on a field trip on the 12th to see A Christmas Carol at the Geary Theater in San Francisco. She had a great time.
Concert Week
On Tuesday, Haley played percussion in the Taylor Winter Concert, and I was in charge of the parent volunteers (decorations, selling refreshments, etc), so it was a busy time for all. Then on Thursday, Katelyn played bari sax with the Jazz Band and Symphonic Band at the Mills Winter Concert, where Kathie helped out. Very busy!
Followed by a Busy Sunday
Val and I joined Haley at religious school for the Chanukah Celebration, complete with a Hannukiah (menorah) design competition, a dreidel-spinning competition, and candle lighting with kids in Israel via Skype. Afterwards, when Katelyn was done with religious school, we decorated our Christmas tree. Then the kids went to Kathie’s and Val and I had a lovely visit with Jennifer and Selena.
Busy Saturday
On the 8th, the girls went shopping with Glynis and Susan to help pick out gifts for their charity family while I worked with Craig to get our house decorations up. Then Haley went to Ralph’s birthday party while Katelyn came home and hung out with us while Jann and Trev visited. Then Haley went to Glynis & Susan’s while Katelyn had her birthday outing.
For her outing, Katelyn met her friends at Tanforan Mall. I gave them money for dinner and snacks, and pre-purchased movie tickets. They saw “Wreck It Ralph”. They had a great time together, and loved the movie. Pictures here.
Busy Friday Night
First we made a quick trip to Kohls’ where the kids got some new clothes (including Katelyn’s first “jeggings”). Then we dropped Haley off in downtown Burlingame to markch in their little holiday parade with the Burlingame Aquatic Club. While she was busy with that, Katelyn and I picked out a Christmas tree. We got Haley, and walked down to Isobune for some sushi. I was enhausted when we got home! The kids had to go to bed relatively early because they were planning on getting up in the morning and hitting a mall with Glynis and Susan. Yikes!
MEF Night Out
One day a year, local businesses donate a portion of their proceeds to the Millbrae Education Foundation (MEF). W=On 12/5 we decided to patronize these businesses to support MEF. First we went to Naked Fish Sushi but the line was an hour long, even for to-go orders! So we ended up a Big Mouth Burger, where we found they had a vegan option, a falafel burger! Haley got yogurt at Nubi Yogurt for dessert. It was a long evening getting food to go, but it felt good to support MEF.
Menttium Dinner
I had dinner with a subset of my mentoring group on 12/3 at Left Bank in Menlo Park. Yummy food and rich conversation, as usual!
A Concert And Another Concert
On Saturday, December 1 I had two concerts with the West Bay Community Band. The first was holiday accompaniment music before and after Santa’s arrival on a helicopter at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. Then I went home and tried to rest my chops preparing for the evening. At 5pm we headed out for dinner at Max’s in Redwood City with a crowd, including our family, Mom and her friend Mary, George and Linda, and Glynis and Susan. Then was the WBCB Winter Concert at the Veteran’s Center in Redwood City, where Stacy also joined us. It was a great time, and I especially loved sharing my music with family and friends.
Pink Martini and the San Francisco Symphony
Val and I went on a rate mid-week outing on November 28th to Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco to see Pink Martini with the San Francisco Symphony. We had amazing 6th row center seats, and the concert was wonderful!
